Tripura Police Seize 10,000 Yaba Tablets in Major Drug Bust

In a significant victory for Tripura’s anti-drug campaign, the police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha and North Tripura SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, successfully intercepted and seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets in Dharmanagar, North Tripura.

Details of the Operation

The operation took place at Nayapara, near Geeta Bhawan, where law enforcement intercepted a Thar vehicle and a Pulsar bike being used to transport the illicit drugs. The main smuggler, Jaggya Ruddha, a resident of Asimganj, Patharkandi, in Assam, was apprehended on the spot. However, an accomplice managed to escape and is currently being pursued by the authorities.

SP Bhanupada Chakraborty stated, “At Nayapara, Dharmanagar, North Tripura, 10 thousand Yaba tablets, worth approximately Rs 50 lakhs, were seized from Thar and Pulsar vehicles.”

Following the seizure of the contraband, an NDPS case has been registered against the peddler at Dharmanagar police station. This successful operation is a testament to the effective and proactive measures being implemented by the state government to combat drug trafficking and abuse.
