Agartala (Tripura) [India], September 22: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praised Team India for their impressive victory over Bangladesh in the first Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Led by Rohit Sharma, India secured a massive 280-run win.

Manik Saha took to social media to express his admiration, stating, “India’s cricketing prowess on full display! Congratulations to Team India on a stunning innings and 280-run victory against Bangladesh in Test Cricket.”

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first. India faced early trouble, losing three wickets for just 34 runs. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant formed a crucial 62-run partnership. Later, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s 199-run stand helped India reach 376 runs in 91.2 overs.

Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler, taking key wickets including Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. Taskin Ahmed also contributed with three wickets for 55 runs.

In their first innings, Bangladesh struggled, losing wickets regularly. Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz showed some resistance, but Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep dismantled their batting lineup. Bangladesh was all out for 149 runs, trailing by 227 runs.

In India’s second innings, they again lost their top-order quickly but centuries from Gill and Rishabh Pant helped them declare at 287/4, setting Bangladesh a target of 515 runs.

Bangladesh started their chase well with a 62-run opening stand. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto played a fighting knock of 82 runs, but Ashwin and Jadeja’s bowling proved too strong. Bangladesh was all out for 228 runs on the final day, with Ashwin taking 6/88 and Jadeja 3/58.
