Agartala, Tripura has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past three days, causing severe flooding in many areas. Chief Minister Manik Saha has stepped up to help by providing boats and flood safety materials for public use and rescue operations.

While inspecting the flood-affected areas, CM Saha walked through waterlogged roads in Agartala and assured the flood victims that they would receive all necessary facilities. He posted on X, ‘I walked the streets of Agartala, met affected families & listened to their concerns. I assured them that we’ll overcome this flood situation together & return to normalcy soon. All possible support will be provided to ensure their well-being.’

The state government has announced that all educational institutions, including government, government-aided, and private schools, colleges, and state-run universities, will remain closed until further notice due to the flood situation.

CM Saha also held a review meeting with the Chief Secretary and other officials at the Secretariat in Agartala. He instructed officials to rescue stranded individuals and ensure prompt delivery of relief materials. He mentioned that the administration is prioritizing rescue and relief operations and that he is closely monitoring the situation.

CM Saha explained that a depression in the Bay of Bengal has caused heavy rain in almost every district of Tripura, leading to landslides and rivers rising above the danger level. Currently, 321 relief camps are operating in the state.

Assam Rifles has launched relief and rescue operations in East Kanchanbari of Kumarghat district and Karbook and Amarpur of Gomati district. They are working closely with the civil administration to help stranded citizens and provide relief. Due to the rising water levels of rivers, 5607 families have been moved to 183 relief camps.
