Tripura CM Manik Saha Inaugurates State’s First Synthetic Athletic Track
On July 2, Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura inaugurated the state’s first synthetic athletic track at the Regional College of Physical Education in Panisagar. This event marked a significant step in developing the sports infrastructure in the state.
New Sports Complex Proposal
CM Saha announced that the state government has sent a proposal for Rs 38.55 crore to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to set up an international standard sports complex in Agartala. This complex will include a natural football ground, a swimming pool, and multipurpose sports halls.
Development Under Khelo India Scheme
Under the Khelo India Scheme, the government plans to set up multipurpose sports halls in various locations including Dharmanagar, Khowai, Ambassa, Sepahijala, and Belonia. Additionally, six grounds with galleries are being developed.
Other Initiatives
Under the Mukhyamantri Sports Development Scheme, several initiatives are being undertaken. In NSRCC, Agartala, a basketball and volleyball court, an indoor hall, and the Office of the Sports Department will be established at Teliamura in Khowai district.
Focus on Athlete Nutrition
CM Saha requested Sports Minister Tinku Roy and Sports Department officials to ensure proper nutrition for sportspersons. He emphasized that athletics is the king of sports and that the new synthetic track will greatly benefit athletes.
Government’s Commitment
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state is progressing in sports, health, and agriculture under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that modern management techniques are being used to make sports more popular and beneficial for athletes.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, MLA Binay Bhushan Das, MLA Jadab Lal Nath, and Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports Department PK Chakraborty were also present at the event.
