On October 26, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized the importance of unorganised workers in boosting the rural economy. Speaking at the first state-level exhibition on the PM Vishwakarma Yojana at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala, he noted the growth in Self Help Groups (SHGs) from 4,000 to 50,000 since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took office.

PM Vishwakarma Yojana

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, is a Rs 13,000-crore initiative aimed at supporting skilled artisans and laborers. CM Saha highlighted the scheme’s role in enhancing productivity and product quality in the unorganised sector.

Commitment to Social Transformation

CM Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to social transformation, aligning with the vision of ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura’ and ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.’ He urged continued efforts from the industries and commerce department to support these initiatives.

The event was attended by Union Minister Jitendra Ram Majhi, Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma, MLA Rampada Jamatia, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, and other dignitaries. Beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana from various districts also participated.
