Tripura CM Manik Saha Criticizes CPI(M) and Congress for Neglecting State’s Culture
In Agartala, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed concerns over the neglect of the state’s culture by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Congress. Speaking at the Mukta Dhara Auditorium, he emphasized the importance of preserving traditions like Kirtan, which he described as essential from birth to death. Saha highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s approach to Hinduism, which respected all religions, as still relevant today.
He accused the CPI(M) and Congress of losing Tripura’s cultural heritage during their 35-year rule, claiming they did not believe in God and hindered others from doing so. Saha noted that a renewed atmosphere of faith has been established in Tripura, allowing people to freely express their beliefs. He urged artists associated with Kirtan to take responsibility for social change through their words.
The event was attended by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, and Tarak Brahma Kirtanya Shilpi Samiti Chairman Jagmohan Nath, among others.
