Tripura CM Manik Saha Attends Blood Donation Camp and Awards Students
On June 30, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha participated in a blood donation camp and a financial assistance event organized by the Tripura State Engineers Association at Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas. The event featured a blood donation camp where many volunteers donated blood to support the local healthcare system.
In addition to the camp, the association provided financial assistance to meritorious students who excelled in the TBSE 2024 examinations for Class X and Class XII. The awards ceremony took place at the Saheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel.
In a significant boost to healthcare services, a state-of-the-art blood collection and transportation van was flagged off by CM Saha on June 18 in Dhalai. The van, costing Rs 45 lakh, is the first of its kind in the state and allows two people to donate blood simultaneously. This advancement is expected to enhance the efficiency of blood collection and transportation in the region. The vehicle will be primarily used at the Kulai District Hospital in Dhalai district.
“We have 14 blood banks in our state, 12 of which are government-run and 2 are private. With the capability to separate blood components, a single donation can save up to four lives,” stated CM Saha. He emphasized the importance of blood donation and its benefits to both recipients and donors. CM Saha also urged the 1,100 registered social clubs in the state to organize blood donation camps to ensure the state remains well-equipped to meet future blood supply challenges.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Secretary of State Health and Family Welfare Kiran Gitte and Director of Health Services Sanjib Debbarma.
