Tripura CM Manik Saha Announces Rs 242.55 Crores for Gandatwisa Relief and Development

On August 4, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced financial assistance worth over Rs 242.55 crores for relief and development in the Gandatwisa sub-division of Dhalai District. This announcement came after Dr. Saha visited various locations in Gandatwisa and met with victims and family members of Parameswar Reang, who died following an incident on July 7.

Incident and Immediate Response

Dr. Saha explained that Parameswar Reang was injured during an Ananda Mela on July 7 and later died on July 12. Following his death, several houses were attacked, and people sought shelter in government-arranged relief camps. Dr. Saha, along with other officials, visited the affected areas and relief camps to provide assistance.

Financial Assistance

The state government has provided Rs 6 lakh to the family of Parameswar Reang and will provide an additional Rs 4 lakh. For the 101 severely affected families, Rs 95,000 has already been transferred to their accounts, with an additional Rs 2.05 lakh to be provided. For those with severely damaged property, Rs 50,000 has been provided, and an additional Rs 1 lakh will be given. For partly damaged property, Rs 25,000 has been provided, with an additional Rs 25,000 to be received. In total, Rs 1.14 crore has already been disbursed, with an additional Rs 2.30 crore to be provided.

Development Projects

Dr. Saha also announced plans for the overall development of Gandatwisa, including the construction of Narayanpur Market, development of the Gandatwisa Ambassa road, and cage farming for fisheries at Dombur Lake. These projects will cost around Rs 239 crore and will cover 17 different initiatives.

Emphasis on Peace

Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of peace for development, stating that the government is working towards PM Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Vishwas.’ He warned that strict actions would be taken against those who create unrest in the state.
