Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Leads Massive Tree Planting Drive

On Friday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha took part in a state-level mass plantation drive near Taranagar on NH 108 B in the Mohanpur sub-division of West Tripura. This event was part of the ‘Ek pedh maa ke naam’ initiative started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day.

Chief Minister Saha, along with Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma and Agriculture and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, led the drive, planting 5 lakh seedlings in just 5 minutes. Saha emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and the role of trees in combating global warming and climate change.

Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma highlighted the problems related to global warming and heatwaves, stating that planting trees can help counter these issues. He mentioned that the forest department aims to plant an additional 40-45 lakh trees by the end of the year.
