Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Monitors Heavy Rainfall Situation in South District

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is closely monitoring the heavy rainfall situation in the South District. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Belonia received the highest rainfall of 214.40 mm, while Sabroom and Bagafa recorded 152.00 mm and 80.00 mm, respectively.

The heavy rainfall has caused water levels to rise in the rivers Muhuri and Lawgang. Currently, the water level in Muhuri is 26.60 meters, exceeding the expected flood level of 23.60 meters but below the critical level of 27.50 meters. The Lawgang River is at 24.50 meters, above the danger level of 24.00 meters.

Shelters have been prepared, and precautionary evacuations have started. Six houses in Belonia Sub Division have been partly damaged, and necessary support is being provided to the affected families. Efforts are also underway to clear blocked roads due to fallen trees.

Volunteers from Aapda Mitra, Civil Defence, TSR, TSECL, Forest, and other Quick Response Teams (QRTs) are on standby. Saha assures that the administration is prepared to handle any situation and urges residents to stay alert and contact local authorities in case of emergencies.
