Tripura Chakma Students’ Association Urges PM Modi to Protect Minorities in Bangladesh

The Tripura Chakma Students’ Association (TCSA) has condemned the alleged attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene. TCSA stated that such atrocities are increasingly common, particularly against tribal communities, and demanded immediate action from both the Government of India and the international community.

Violence Against Minorities

Social activist Amitab Chakma highlighted the violence against minorities in Bangladesh, particularly Buddhists and Hindus. He reported that indiscriminate fire has resulted in the deaths of 79 people, and over a hundred houses have been burned. Many women and children are hiding in the jungles due to the violence. Chakma criticized the new government in Bangladesh for being ineffective and called on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take measures to protect minorities in Bangladesh.

TCSA’s Demands

TCSA has made several urgent appeals, including:

  • Immediate inclusion of the Chittagong Hill Tracts into India
  • An immediate halt to the persecution of tribal and minority Hindu communities in Bangladesh
  • Accountability for soldiers involved in the massacre
  • Capital punishment for those guilty of genocide
  • Reconstruction of the destroyed Buddhist and Hindu temples by the Bangladesh government

Bangladesh Army’s Appeal

The Bangladesh Army has issued an appeal to the public, urging them to maintain peace and harmony. The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) stated that the ongoing tension may turn into violent riots in the three hill districts and called on leading individuals to assist law enforcement agencies in de-escalating the situation. The ISPR assured that necessary legal action would be taken after identifying the real culprits through a proper investigation.
