Tripura Celebrates Jishnu Dev Varma’s Appointment as Telangana Governor
Agartala (Tripura), August 10: The Tripura Government hosted a grand civic reception for Jishnu Dev Varma, who recently took charge as the Governor of Telangana, at Agartala on Saturday.
Chief Minister Manik Saha shared on social media, “Today, a ‘Civic Reception’ was held in honour of Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Deputy CM of Tripura, who recently took charge as the Governor of Telangana on July 31, 2024.”
He added, “This is a historic moment for Tripura, as ‘Jishnu Karta’ is the 1st person from the state to hold this prestigious position post-independence. On behalf of the people of Tripura, I conveyed my best regards to him.”
Jishnu Dev Varma, a senior BJP leader, was appointed as the Governor of Telangana on July 28 by President Droupadi Murmu. Chief Minister Saha noted that PM Narendra Modi and President Murmu have honored the people of Tripura by nominating Varma for the Governor’s position.
Varma was born in Agartala on August 15, 1957, and has been serving as the 4th and current Governor of Telangana since July 31, 2024. He previously served as the second Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2023.
