Tribute to Captain Deepak Singh: Honoring a Brave Soldier in Jammu
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 15: A special ceremony was held in Jammu on August 15 to honor Captain Deepak Singh of the Indian Army, who lost his life in a battle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Wreath-Laying Ceremony
In a solemn event, Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, laid a wreath to pay homage to Capt Deepak Singh. The ceremony was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain, who also paid their respects.
Supreme Sacrifice
Capt Deepak Singh was killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. On Thursday, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff, along with all ranks of the Indian Army, saluted Capt Deepak Singh’s supreme sacrifice and expressed their deepest condolences to his family.
Reactions and Condolences
Following the tragic incident, former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir expressed their sorrow and criticized the current situation. Mehbooba Mufti posted on social media, expressing her condolences and concern over the ongoing violence. Omar Abdullah also commented on the deteriorating situation in some parts of the Jammu region.
Government Response
In response to the rising terror-related incidents, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held an important meeting on Wednesday. The meeting included Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, and other security officials.
