The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) conducted Independent Drive Tests (IDT) in New Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmednagar, and Hyderabad from September to October 2024. These tests assessed the quality of voice and data services provided by major telecom companies: Bharti Airtel Ltd., BSNL/MTNL, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (RJIL), and Vodafone Idea Ltd. (VIL).
In New Delhi, RJIL had a lower call setup success rate of 94% compared to Airtel, MTNL, and VIL, which were above 97%. MTNL had the longest call setup time at 3.27 seconds, while RJIL and Airtel were quicker. MTNL also had a higher call drop rate of 7.23%. RJIL led in data download speed at 231.82 Mbps, followed by Airtel at 171.44 Mbps.
In Jaipur, RJIL and VIL achieved a 100% call setup success rate. RJIL had the fastest call setup time at 0.69 seconds. RJIL also led in download speed at 356.68 Mbps, with Airtel at 216.93 Mbps.
In Hyderabad, RJIL had a 100% call setup success rate and the fastest setup time at 0.75 seconds. RJIL also led in download speed at 164.19 Mbps.
In Ahmednagar, Airtel had a 100% call setup success rate. RJIL led in download speed at 251.13 Mbps.
