In Uttar Pradesh, seven coaches of a goods train derailed between Ghaziabad and Moradabad, specifically in the Amroha yard. The exact timing of the incident is yet to be determined. Railway officials have confirmed that an alternative route between Moradabad-Saharanpur-Meerut-Ghaziabad is open for train movement.

Additionally, on July 18, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express derailed near Gonda station, between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations. This tragic incident resulted in three deaths and around 30 injuries. Officials reported that 4-5 coaches from the front of the Dibrugarh Express derailed.

Opposition leaders have criticized the central government, highlighting the deaths of 11 people in a previous collision involving a goods train and the Sealdah-Agartala Kanchanjunga Express.
