On a Friday evening, the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express train collided with a stationary goods train at Kavaraippettai Railway Station near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The accident resulted in 19 passengers being injured, with four sustaining severe injuries. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on the Chennai-Gudur section, leading to the derailment of 12 coaches.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated, and all passengers were safely evacuated. Local residents, including Lokesh, assisted in the rescue efforts. T Prabhushankar, the District Collector of Tiruvallur, confirmed that there were no casualties and that the injured were taken to hospitals where they are stable. Chief Minister MK Stalin directed the rescue operations, ensuring the provision of food and transportation for the passengers.

The Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway stated that train movement in both directions is currently halted. Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information & Publicity at the Railway Board, assured that the railways are making special arrangements for the passengers’ continued journey and safety.
