A gunman entered a private home for the elderly in Daruvar, Croatia, on Monday and began shooting, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to six others. The shooter, who had previous encounters with authorities and was a member of a military police unit, was later arrested near a cafe.

According to Croatian police chief Nikola Milina, five of the deceased were residents of the home, and one was an employee. The gunman used an unregistered short firearm, and the motive behind the shooting is still unknown.
