At least four people, including two students, were killed and nine others injured when a fellow student opened fire at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday. The suspected gunman, 14-year-old Colt Cray, is in custody.

The shooting occurred during an Algebra 1 class around 9:45 am. Lyela Sayarath, a junior at the school, recounted that Colt left the classroom without a pass and returned with a gun. When a student tried to open the door for him, she saw the gun and jumped back. Colt then started shooting in the adjacent classroom.
Students hid behind desks as gunshots rang out. Lyela described the scene as chaotic, with students piling on top of each other and the teacher turning off the lights. Her friend in the next classroom witnessed someone getting shot and was visibly shaken.
