Tragic Roof Collapse in Indore: Five Dead Including Contractor and Labourers
In a tragic incident in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, five people lost their lives when the roof of an under-construction resort collapsed. The victims included a contractor and four labourers.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred in the Choral locality under the jurisdiction of Simrol police station. The victims were identified as:
- Pawan Panchal (35), a contractor from Bhaswada, Rajasthan, currently living in Indore’s Rau
- Hariom Malvi (22) and Ajay Malvi (20), residents of Shajapur
- Raja (22) and Gopal (45), residents of Indore
Official Statements
Indore Collector Ashish Singh stated, “There was an under-construction resort in Choral locality where the roof slab was recently built. Under the same roof, a contractor and four labourers were sleeping. On Friday morning, the roof collapsed, and all five people died.”
Upon receiving information about the incident, teams from the district administration and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and began rescue operations. Five bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examinations.

A team is investigating the matter regarding the permission for the resort’s construction. Preliminary investigations revealed that permission was issued by the gram panchayat, but the quality of construction was found to be substandard. Further action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
