Death Toll Rises to 25

In Saran, Bihar, a tragic incident involving the consumption of spurious liquor has resulted in the death of one more person, bringing the total death count to 25 across two separate incidents in Sivan and Saran. This information was confirmed by DGP Alok Raj.

Arrests and Investigations

Authorities have arrested 12 individuals in connection with the tragedy. Saran Superintendent Kumar Ashish reported that the liquor was identified as industrial spirit, and investigations into its distribution are ongoing. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and 250 raids have been conducted, recovering 1,650 liters of alcohol.

Government Response

Saran District Magistrate Aman Samir stated that the families of the deceased must pledge support for the state’s liquor ban to receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh, pending post-mortem results. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a high-level review and directed a thorough investigation into the incident.
