Tragic Incident in Pune: Woman Dies After Secret Abortion, Husband and Father-in-Law Arrested
In Pune, Maharashtra, a 24-year-old woman tragically passed away after a secret abortion was performed at her home. Following this incident, the police arrested her husband and father-in-law, and her mother-in-law was also booked in connection with the case.
The police investigation revealed that the four-month-old foetus was buried on the family’s farm. A private doctor, who was called to perform the abortion, is also under scrutiny.
The woman had married the accused in 2017 and had two children, a girl and a boy, before becoming pregnant for the third time. Police suspect that the family arranged for the abortion at home after discovering the foetus was female.
On Sunday, the woman’s condition worsened due to heavy bleeding. She was taken to the hospital the next day but died on the way. The FIR was filed based on a complaint from the deceased woman’s brother, leading to the arrest of her husband and father-in-law. The foetus was exhumed from the farm and sent for a postmortem.
The case has been registered at the Indapur Police station of Pune Rural Police under sections 91, 90, and 85 of the BNS, and further investigation is ongoing.
