Tragic Incident in Gangapur: Ramnivas Meena Swept Away by River
In Gangapur, Rajasthan, a 65-year-old man named Ramnivas Meena died on Friday after being swept away by strong river currents. The incident occurred while he was returning home after grazing his cattle.
Details of the Incident
Sub-Inspector Bharat Singh of Sadar Thana confirmed that Meena was swept away in the river. He stated, “Yesterday, Ramnivas Meena was grazing his cattle from Gawadi Kala; at night, the water level had increased in Anikat river. He died after he lost his balance and fell into the river.”
Patwari Suman Lata Sharma also confirmed the tragic event, adding, “Meena went in the morning to graze his cattle, and in the evening, when he did not return but the cattle did, people started looking for him.”
Community Response
The villagers alleged that they received little to no help from the administration and had to rescue the body themselves late at night. The body has been sent to the local mortuary for a post-mortem.

Sharma mentioned that the family is not demanding anything from the government but will receive compensation and relief according to state government rules. “There are no demands of the family, they are already grieving as one member of their family has passed away. The family will be getting their compensation and any relief as laid out by the government,” added Sharma.
