Tragic House Collapse in West Tripura

Parents Lost, Daughters Injured

In the Mekhli Para area of Ranibazar, West Tripura, a husband and wife tragically lost their lives when their mud house collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday night.

The couple’s two daughters, aged 4 months and 9 years, sustained injuries but are in stable condition. They are receiving treatment at the hospital, where the government is providing all necessary facilities.

West Tripura District DM and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar stated that the government is committed to providing ongoing support to the affected families.

Upon hearing the collapse, neighbors rushed to the scene and rescued the two daughters from the debris, but unfortunately, the parents could not be saved.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his sadness over the incident. He mentioned that the state government and local administration have taken necessary steps, including providing financial assistance and assuring full support to the family during this difficult time.

CM Saha said, “Due to excessive rainfall, a tragic incident in Khayerpur Mekhalipara Gram Panchayat claimed the lives of Pranesh and Jhuma Tanti, from the same family. Their daughters, aged 4 months and 9 years, are currently receiving medical treatment. I am deeply saddened by this incident.”

He added, “The state government and local administration have already taken necessary steps, including financial assistance, and have assured full support to the family during this difficult time.”
