Tragic Hooch Incident in Tamil Nadu: 58 Dead, 88 Hospitalized

In Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi district, a hooch tragedy has claimed 58 lives, with 88 people currently receiving treatment across five hospitals. The incident has affected 225 individuals in total.

Hospitals and Patients

According to the District Collectorate, 47 people are admitted to the Government Kallakurichi Medical College and Hospital, and 63 have been discharged. Nine people are at JIPMER Puducherry, with six discharged and five deceased. Salem Medical College is treating 29 patients, with 22 fatalities. Villupuram Medical College has two patients admitted and two discharged. One person is at Royapettah Greater Hospital in Chennai, and two people have been discharged from Sri Sanjeevi Hospital.

Authorities’ Visit

Earlier in the day, NCSC Chairman Kishor Makwana, TNCSC Deputy Chairman Puneeth Pandian, and DIG of the National Aditya Vidarbha Commission Sanmeet Kaur met with the families of the victims in the Karunapuram area of Kallakurichi district.
