A tragic incident in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi district has resulted in 58 deaths due to illicit liquor consumption. Currently, 157 people are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

At Kallakurichi Government Medical College hospital, 111 people are undergoing treatment. In Puducherry, 11 people are being treated, while in Salem district, 30 people are hospitalized. Villupuram district has 4 people receiving treatment, and Royapetta Hospital in Chennai has one patient.

Political Reactions
AIADMK leader D Jayakumar criticized the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, alleging involvement of top leaders and inadequate law enforcement. He questioned why the case was not transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and criticized the formation of a one-man commission.
Jayakumar also highlighted the lack of proper medicines to treat the affected individuals, claiming that many lives could have been saved with adequate medical supplies. AIADMK held a protest in Chennai, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister MK Stalin.
