Woman Killed in Nashik, Accused Arrested
A 36-year-old woman tragically lost her life in Nashik after being struck by a speeding car on July 9. The driver, a 51-year-old man, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and has been taken into custody by the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kirankumar Chavan stated that the police have requested the court for the accused’s custody.
In another incident on July 7, a 45-year-old woman named Kaveri Nakhwa was killed in Worli when a car driven by Mihir Shah hit a scooter. Shah was arrested and brought to court. The victim’s husband, who was riding the scooter, also sustained injuries.
Earlier this year, on May 19, a 17-year-old allegedly under the influence of alcohol drove a luxury car into a motorcycle, killing two software engineers in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed concern over the rise in hit-and-run incidents and has directed the police to take strict action, ensuring that the guilty are not spared.
