In a heartbreaking incident in Balochistan’s Mastung district, a targeted explosion claimed the lives of five individuals, including three schoolchildren and a police officer. The blast occurred near Civil Hospital Chowk, aimed at a police mobile van, and injured over a dozen people, many of whom were children.

The explosion took place close to the Girls High School in Mastung, causing significant damage to nearby vehicles. District Police Officer Miandad Umrani confirmed the casualties and injuries, stating that the explosives were planted in a motorcycle and detonated remotely as the police van passed by.

Response and Investigation

Emergency responders and local residents quickly gathered to assist the injured. Most of the injured were schoolchildren, who were rushed to Civil Hospital Mastung. The provincial health department declared an emergency across Quetta hospitals to manage the situation.

Condemnation and Call for Vigilance

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, expressing grief over the loss of innocent lives. He urged communal vigilance to combat terrorism. Acting President Yousuf Raza Gillani also condemned the violence, affirming national solidarity against terrorism.

Police and investigative teams are actively searching for those responsible, with no group yet claiming responsibility. Authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
