Tragic Bus Accident in Uttarakhand’s Almora
A bus accident occurred near Kupi in Ramnagar at the Pauri-Almora border in Uttarakhand on Monday morning, resulting in many feared dead or injured, including children. The bus was traveling from Garhwal to Kumaon when it fell into a gorge. Almora SSP Devendra Pincha reported that locals have found five bodies so far, but authorities fear the death toll may rise.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at the site. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to expedite rescue and relief efforts. He communicated with the Secretary of Disaster Management, Commissioner of Kumaon Division, and District Magistrate of Almora to ensure swift action.

Chief Minister Dhami expressed his sorrow over the incident and directed the local administration to evacuate the injured to the nearest health center. He also mentioned the possibility of airlifting seriously injured passengers if necessary. The Chief Minister has ordered a suspension of the ARTO enforcement in the affected areas and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured.
