Tragic Bus Accident in Unnao: 18 Dead, Many Injured

A terrible accident occurred on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, early Wednesday morning. A bus traveling from Bihar’s Shivhar district to Delhi collided with a milk container, resulting in 18 deaths and 19 injuries.

Survivor’s Account

Raushan, a woman traveling with her daughter, described the crash as sudden and terrifying. She said, “We were both asleep when suddenly we heard a commotion as if there was a storm or hurricane. Somehow, my daughter and I managed to get out of the vehicle with someone’s help.”

Official Statements

Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi confirmed that the bus was carrying 57 passengers. He said, “18 people died and 19 others were injured after the bus collided with a milk container at 5:15 am. About 20 people were safe, and they are being sent to Delhi.”

Arvind Chaurasia, the Circle Officer of Bangarmau in Unnao, added that an FIR has been lodged and the District Magistrate has given instructions to the Regional Transport Office.

Condolences and Relief Measures

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and instructed the district administration to provide proper treatment to the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his grief and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
