In a tragic incident in Gujarat’s Anand district, three laborers lost their lives when an under-construction bridge of the bullet train project collapsed. The incident was reported by Dharmesh Gor, the Anand Fire Officer, who stated that the fire department managed to rescue two laborers and recover two bodies during the operation. Unfortunately, one of the rescued laborers later died in the hospital.

The collapse occurred at the project site near Rajupura, where laborers were trapped between concrete blocks. A detailed technical enquiry is underway to determine the cause of the collapse. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited confirmed that rescue operations were conducted using cranes and excavators, and one laborer is currently recovering in the hospital.

The bridge is part of the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, a 508-kilometer corridor designed to revolutionize high-speed rail travel in India. This project aims to connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad, reducing travel time from six hours to just two hours with trains reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h. The project is a significant initiative by the government to enhance safety, speed, and service in Indian Railways, with a sanctioned cost of Rs 1,08,000 crore.

The corridor passes through the economically significant states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, linking major business centers such as Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad.
