Tragic Attack at Beersheba Bus Station
Officer Shira Suslik Killed
In a tragic event at Beersheba’s central bus station in Israel, a Border Police officer named Sgt. Shira Suslik, aged 19, was killed. The attack, which involved both stabbing and gunfire, left 10 others injured. The assailant, Ahmad al-Uqbi, a 29-year-old Israeli citizen from the unrecognized Bedouin village of Uqbi, was killed at the scene by IDF soldiers. Authorities are investigating the attack, and it is reported that al-Uqbi had a prior criminal record.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service reported that 10 people were wounded and taken to Soroka Medical Center. Among them, a woman is in serious condition, and four men are in moderate condition, all with gunshot wounds. Five others are in good condition, having been hit by glass shards or blunt trauma, and three were treated for acute anxiety.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that al-Uqbi may be related to Muhanad Alukabi, who was responsible for a similar attack at the same location in 2015. This incident occurred on the eve of the anniversary of the October 7 terror attack, the worst in Israel’s history, and follows a recent deadly shooting in Jaffa.
