Tragic Accidents in Maharashtra: Atmaja Kasat and Others Lose Lives to Speeding Cars
A 46-year-old woman named Atmaja Kasat, who was a teacher at Utkarsh Junior College, lost her life after being hit by a speeding car in the Virar area of Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The driver, Shubham Patil, has been arrested by the Arnala police.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Atmaja Kasat was passing in front of Muljibhai Mehta School in Virar West. She sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
This tragic event is part of a series of similar accidents in Maharashtra. On July 20, a 28-year-old man named Vinod Lad was hit by a speeding car on Abdul Gaffar Khan Road near Worli Sea Link and died during treatment on July 27. The driver, Kiran Indulkar, has been arrested.
Another incident on July 7 resulted in the death of 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa when a luxury car hit a scooter she was traveling on with her husband on Dr. Annie Besant Road in Mumbai. The driver, Mihir Shah, was presented before the Sewri court and sent to judicial custody.
Earlier in May, a Porsche car driven by a minor in an inebriated condition hit and killed two IT professionals in Pune. Another 28-year-old man died on the spot after being hit by a speeding car in Pimpri Chinchwad of Pune district on May 27. The driver was arrested the next day.
