Tragic Accident on Pune Nashik Highway: NCP MLA’s Nephew Arrested

A tragic road accident occurred on the Pune Nashik Highway near Kalamb village in Pune’s Manchar, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Om Bhalerao. The accident happened late on Saturday night when Mayur Sahebrao Mohite, the 34-year-old nephew of NCP MLA Dilip Mohite Patil, was driving his car and collided with Bhalerao’s bike while attempting to overtake another vehicle.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Pune Rural, Pankaj Deshmukh, stated, “Last night around 9:30 PM, an accident happened under the Manchar PS limits in which one boy aged 19 years was killed in an accident. He was riding a bike when a car coming from the opposite direction collided with his bike.”

Mohite has been arrested and will be produced in court. He faces charges under IPC section 304 for causing a fatal accident. The police have collected all necessary evidence, including medical tests and blood samples, for analysis.

In another incident earlier in the day, at least 22 passengers were injured when a state transport bus rammed into a tree near Sahajpur Phata in the Yavat area of Pune district. The bus driver lost control, leading to the accident. Police officials reported that 2-3 passengers with severe injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital.
