In Pune, Maharashtra, a 3.5-year-old girl named Girija Ganesh Shinde tragically died when a damaged iron gate fell on her while she was playing with friends. The incident occurred in Bopkhel, Pimpri-Chinchwad, around 4 pm on Wednesday.

DCP Shivaji Pawar stated, “A 3.5-year-old girl, Girija Ganesh Shinde, died on the spot when a heavy iron gate fell on her while she was playing with friends on 31st July. The incident occurred in Bopkhel, Pimpri-Chinchwad. The gate fell on the deceased when another child tried to pull it. We have registered an Accidental Death Report and will investigate the case.”

The official further mentioned that the deceased child’s parents are in a state of shock and will come to the authorities after carrying out their child’s last rites. CCTV footage capturing the incident will also be used to investigate the matter further. More updates on the matter are awaited.
