TMC MP Saugata Roy and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Clash Over 2024 Budget

TMC MP Saugata Roy criticized the 2024 Union Budget, claiming it favored Andhra Pradesh and Bihar due to BJP’s lack of majority. He pointed out that special attention was given to these states because the BJP needed support from TDP and JD(U) to retain power.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju defended the budget, calling it historic and accusing the opposition of insulting the people’s mandate by criticizing it. He emphasized the budget’s ambitious goals, including making India the third-largest economy and providing for infrastructure, women, employment, and farmers.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari also criticized the budget, saying it failed to meet promises to farmers, with no mention of MSP or an increase in Kisan Nidhi.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced significant allocations for Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. Andhra Pradesh will receive Rs 15,000 crore to address its capital needs, while Bihar will get Rs 26,000 crore for various development projects, including the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor and several expressways.
