Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 4: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh has posed several questions to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the RG Kar Medical Hospital rape and murder case. Ghosh demands answers on whether there is any vengeance involved in the incident.

Ghosh stated, “Tomorrow on September 5, the CBI will have to answer some questions related to the RG Kar Medical College incident. They have to answer if there were one person or more people involved in the case. They also need to clear if this is an actual case of rape and murder or is any revengeful motive behind doing this. If CBI is saying that there was some disturbance at the place of occurrence then they have to justify this and if they do that, they have to answer what action have they taken against that person who created the disturbance.”

The Supreme Court is set to hear the case of the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical Hospital. The CBI has been investigating the crime scene and has conducted polygraph tests on former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh and the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy.

Protests continue across West Bengal, with junior doctors demanding the resignation of police commissioner Vineet Goyal. In response to the incident, the West Bengal Assembly has passed the ‘Aparajita Woman and Child Bill (West Bengal Criminal Laws and Amendment) 2024’, which enforces stricter laws against sexual assault and includes the death penalty for the accused.
