Ticket Checker Vijay Kumar Pandit Attacked by Passenger at Nalasopara Station
A 29-year-old ticket checker named Vijay Kumar Pandit was allegedly assaulted by a passenger at Nalasopara Railway Station in Maharashtra. The incident took place on September 19 around 7:13 am when Pandit was checking tickets on Platform No. 1.
Pandit, who has been serving at the station for the past 10 months, recounted that a passenger deboarded from the first-class coach and presented a second-class ticket. Pandit informed the passenger that his ticket was invalid and imposed a fine of Rs 345. The passenger requested leniency, claiming he only had Rs 210. Considering him a student, Pandit reduced the fine to Rs 150 and advised him not to travel in first class in the future.
After the transaction, the passenger left but later returned and struck Pandit from behind with a hockey stick, causing injuries and bleeding. Pandit’s colleagues rushed him to Riddhi Vinayak Hospital for initial treatment and then to Jagjivan Ram Hospital for further care.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified passenger under sections 121(2) and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have initiated a search for him.
