The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in parts of Andhra Pradesh from August 1 to August 5. Areas like North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema will experience strong winds up to 40 km/h.

Stella Samul, Director of the Amaravati Meteorological Centre, explained that the shear zone has become less marked and lower tropospheric westerly winds prevail over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

The Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) also forecasts moderate rain with scattered thundershowers in various districts including Srikakulam, Manyam, Alluri, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Prakasam, Nellore, Nandyala, Anantapuram, Annamaiya, Chittoor, and Tirupati.

Additionally, the IMD has warned of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the South Peninsular region, including Coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Kerala & Mahe, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema over the next 5 days.
