Three people have died in a private hospital in Bargarh, Odisha, due to Scrub Typhus infection, according to Odisha Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra. Dr. Mishra has instructed the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Bargarh to send a team to the affected areas to gather more details.

Dr. Mishra stated, “We got information that 3 people died in a private hospital in Baragarh district. I talked to CDMO Baragarh. CDMO Baragarah sent a team to the hospital to find out the test reports and other possible cases in the area.”

He further mentioned that the team needs to verify all clinical reports, saying, “We have to verify test findings and all the clinical reports because without confirmed tests we cannot say anything.”

Dr. Mishra has also sent a team from Bhubaneswar to check the reason behind the deaths. He emphasized that Scrub Typhus is a treatable disease and that early detection and treatment can cure patients. He urged the public to report any fever and tick bites to the nearest hospital for timely medication.
