A tragic incident occurred in Ganderbal district’s Gagangir, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists attacked a construction site, killing a doctor and six laborers. The attack took place on the Srinagar-Leh national highway as workers returned to their camp. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrived to investigate, led by a Superintendent of Police.

Details of the Attack

The terrorists, believed to be at least two, opened fire on a group of laborers, resulting in two immediate deaths, with others succumbing to injuries later. Five individuals are currently receiving treatment.

Reactions and Condemnations

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attack, urging swift justice. He expressed condolences to the victims’ families. Dr. Shahnawaz Dar’s son, one of the victims, shared his grief and appealed for support to fulfill his father’s dream of him becoming an IAS officer.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack, calling it cowardly and despicable. They extended condolences and promised a strong response from security forces.
