Territorial Army Completes 54-Day Expedition from Siachen Glacier to Indira Point
The Territorial Army concluded its 54-day expedition from Siachen Glacier to Indira Point (Sri Vijay Puram) as part of its platinum jubilee celebration. The team traveled approximately 5,500 kilometers by land, air, and sea.
Journey Highlights
The expedition began on July 30 from the Siachen Glacier base camp, flagged off by the commander of the Siachen Brigade. The team cycled through the challenging terrains of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, reaching Delhi on August 22, 2024. In Delhi, they paid homage at the National War Memorial and were formally sent off by Lt Gen Rakesh Kapoor and Lt Gen Raju Baijal.
Throughout their journey, the team interacted with local villagers, civilians, students, NCC cadets, and public representatives, spreading awareness about the Indian Army and the Territorial Army. They also promoted environmental consciousness and participated in plantation drives.
Final Leg of the Journey
After cycling through the mainland, the team reached Chennai on September 13, 2024, and then flew to Sri Vijay Puram (formerly Port Blair). They cycled through the Andaman Nicobar Islands and sailed between the islands. The expedition concluded on September 21, 2024, at Indira Point, where the team hoisted the Indian flag underwater.
