They are providing 4G services, free data, and extended bill payments to help residents and rescue teams. Control rooms and relief centers have been set up, and stores are collecting relief materials. Over 200 deaths have been reported, and efforts are ongoing to support the affected communities.

Efforts by Telecom Companies

BSNL: Provided 4G services in affected areas and diesel engines to keep towers running. Speedy internet connections and toll-free numbers have been given to the district administration and Health Department.

Reliance Jio: Installed a second dedicated tower to support the area, increasing network capacity and coverage.

Airtel: Offering 1 GB of free data per day, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS per day for three days to prepaid customers. Extended bill payment dates by 30 days for postpaid users. Converted 52 retail stores into relief collection points.

Vodafone Idea (Vi): Providing 1 GB of free data per day for seven days to prepaid customers. Extended bill payment dates by 10 days for postpaid users. Transformed all stores into relief collection points and ensured all 263 sites in the district are operational.

Impact of Landslides

Two massive landslides struck Mundakkai and Churalmala in Wayanad on July 30, causing extensive destruction, loss of lives, and injuries. Over 200 deaths have been reported, and bodies are being recovered.
