The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has successfully arrested a SIM card fraudster named Mohammad Asif Pasha in Karimnagar on September 23, 2024.

How the Fraud Happened

Mohammad Asif Pasha, along with Jahangir, devised a plan to steal money from the bank accounts of Md Samiuddin, a retired Superintendent from the Irrigation Department who passed away in 2022. They blocked Samiuddin’s Airtel SIM card and reactivated it under Pasha’s name using fake documents. This allowed them to access banking apps and transfer Rs 20,18,557 from Samiuddin’s and his sister Sabiha Sulthana’s accounts.

Investigation and Arrest

The Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) in Karimnagar conducted a thorough investigation and arrested Pasha. During the arrest, they seized Rs 18,00,000 in cash, a cell phone, credit cards, and credit card bills. Pasha was then presented before the Hon’ble Magistrate. Efforts are ongoing to catch Jahangir.
