Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Pushes for Rapid Development of Pharma City in Hyderabad
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has ordered officials to speed up the development of a greenfield ‘pharma city’ on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The Chief Minister held a detailed meeting with state IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and other top officials to discuss the project.
Key attendees included Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Special Chief Secretary to Industries Department Jayesh Ranjan, TGIIC MD Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Adviser to CM Vem Narender Reddy, Adviser to Government (Infrastructure) Srinivasaraju, Principal Secretary to CM Seshadri, Special Secretary to CM Ajith Reddy, and Ranga Reddy District Collector Shashank.
CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the use of advanced technology in the development of the pharma city, which will be located in the Mucharla area within the Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts. He instructed officials to ensure the development is pollution-free and does not inconvenience nearby residents.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of developing infrastructure such as roads, safe drinking water, electricity, and drainage. He asked officials to assess future infrastructure needs and plan accordingly. The government plans to hold a meeting with prospective pharma companies soon.
The pharma city aims to be a hub for drug manufacturing, biotech, and life sciences companies, including antibiotics, synthetic drugs, vaccines, and more. It will also prioritize Research and Development (R&D) with a special university for research, training, and skills. Special courses in healthcare and pharma sectors will be introduced to create more employment opportunities.
Additionally, the CM suggested that people and farmers who lost their lands in the land acquisition should be encouraged as stakeholders in the pharma city, with plans prepared in this direction.
