Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 8: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy celebrated the achievements of Deepthi Jeevanji, a young athlete from the state who won a bronze medal in the Women’s 400m T20 event at her Paralympics debut in Paris.

Rewards and Recognition

To honor her accomplishment, CM Reddy announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore, a 500-yard plot in Warangal, and a Group 2 job in the state government for Deepthi. Additionally, her coach, Nagpuri Ramesh, was awarded a Rs 10 lakh cash prize.

CM Reddy shared on social media platform X, “Deepti Jeevanji, the young athlete who won a bronze medal in the Paralympics and brought glory to Telangana, was met with courtesy.” He added, “Apart from congratulating her on this occasion, I ordered the officials to take steps to give the Group-2 job, Rs one crore cash prize, 500 yards’ land in Warangal and Rs.10 lakhs to the coach on behalf of the state government.”

Union Minister’s Felicitation

On September 5, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, also felicitated the Indian Para-athletics contingent for their outstanding performances at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The ceremony honored athletes, coaches, and support staff, including Deepthi Jeevanji.

Deepthi’s Journey and Achievements

Deepthi Jeevanji, 21, won the bronze medal in the Women’s 400m T20 final with a time of 55.82 seconds, finishing behind Ukraine’s Yuliia Shuliar and Turkey’s Aysel Onder. She had earlier secured her place in the final with a time of 55.45 seconds in the qualification round.

Discovered by SAI coach N Ramesh in Hyderabad, Deepthi began her para-athletics journey in 2019. She has been a Khelo India athlete since 2018 and is now a TOPS athlete. Her achievements include a Gold Medal at the Asian Para Games and a Gold Medal at the 2024 World Championship, where she broke the world record. She also won two medals at the Khelo India Youth Games in 2020.
