Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Celebrates YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s 75th Birth Anniversary
On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy participated in the 75th birth anniversary celebration of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy in Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. During the event, CM Reddy criticized the newly elected alliance government in the state, referring to BJP as ‘Babu, Jagan, and Pawan.’
He praised YS Sharmila, the daughter of YS Rajasekhar Reddy and APCC chief, for standing with the people and addressing public issues. Reddy stated, ‘The main opposition in AP is YS Sharmila. BJP is in power in this state. Here BJP means Babu, Jagan, and Pawan. Everything here is on the BJP’s side. Currently, in Andhra Pradesh, only YS Sharmila is on the people’s side, fighting on public issues.’
CM Reddy also spoke about the lasting impact of YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s welfare schemes and his role as a family figure to many. ‘The memories of YSR are becoming stronger in the hearts of the poor as time goes by. The absence of YSR is clearly visible to us, and society will discuss this deficit,’ he said.
He further highlighted YSR’s dedication to public service, stating, ‘I stepped into the legislative council for the first time and was a strong advocate for YSR to come into focus. Apart from being a child, YSR is the answer to every question. His behaviour is our role model even when he is in opposition. Whoever gives a petition, he gives time to all and receives all appeals in the public darbar.’
Reddy also drew parallels between YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s efforts and those of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, noting their contributions to bringing Congress to power in various states. ‘He (YSR) walked 1,400 kilometers from Chevella to Ichhapuram and said he brought the Congress party to power in AP. Congress came to power in Karnataka and Telangana with Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Congress party got opposition status at the center. Even if Modi wins for the third time, it will not be a victory,’ CM Revanth Reddy said.
