New Delhi, India – RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has criticized the Bihar government, led by Nitish Kumar, for installing smart meters. He claims that the Nitish-BJP government is oppressing the people of Bihar by doubling electricity rates and selling expensive electricity.

Yadav posted on X, stating, “NDA government should answer our questions on smart meters! By installing smart meters in the state with the lowest per capita income in the country, doubling the electricity rates and selling the most expensive electricity, the Nitish-BJP government is oppressing the people of Bihar. Every Bihari is troubled by the government looting in the name of smart meters.”

He added that complaints are coming from all over Bihar about doubled electricity bills. Yadav questioned the government’s motives and demanded an impartial committee to resolve the issue. He also pointed out that there are 2 crore electricity consumers in Bihar, but only 50 lakh have installed smart meters.

Yadav further questioned the credibility of the smart meters, asking why there is so much confusion and glitches in the system. He stated that consumers are always troubled due to lack of information and transparency.
