Support for Hemant Soren as Chief Minister
Tejashwi Yadav, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), announced that the seat-sharing discussions for the upcoming Jharkhand elections have been finalized. He emphasized the unity of the INDIA alliance and expressed support for Hemant Soren to continue as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Yadav stated, “Talks for seat sharing have been completed. All the parties of the INDIA alliance believe in secularism, peace, and harmony. We all want Jharkhand to move forward and the people of Jharkhand to prosper.” He criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its past governance in Jharkhand, labeling it as anti-reservation and anti-constitution.
Seat Distribution Details
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, along with Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir, announced that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress will share 70 seats, while the RJD and Left parties will divide the remaining 11 seats.
BJP’s Candidate Announcement
The BJP has released its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections. Notable candidates include Babulal Marandi from Dhanwar, Lobin Hembrom from Borio, and Sita Soren from Jamtara. Voting for the 81 assembly seats will occur in two phases on November 13 and 20, with results announced on November 23.
