New Delhi [India], July 4: Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on Thursday morning after their success at the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados. The meeting took place at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi.

The team wore special jerseys with ‘CHAMPIONS’ written in bold letters. They won the T20 World Cup for the second time by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final held in Barbados on Saturday.

The Indian team arrived in Delhi on Thursday to a warm welcome from fans. The squad, support staff, families, and media were delayed in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, a category four hurricane that shut down Grantley Adams International Airport for three days. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah organized a flight that departed on July 2 and arrived in Delhi at around 6:00 AM on Thursday.

India ended a 13-year ICC trophy drought with this victory. Key performances included Virat Kohli’s 76 runs, Hardik Pandya’s 3/20, and Jasprit Bumrah’s 2/18. Bumrah, who took 15 wickets in the tournament with an economy rate of 4.17, was named Player of the Tournament.

To celebrate, the team will have an open-top bus ride in Mumbai at Marine Drive and the iconic Wankhede Stadium from 5:00 PM onwards.
