Team India Hits Record 13 Sixes in T20 World Cup Match Against Bangladesh

St John’s [Antigua], June 22: Team India made history by hitting 13 sixes in their ICC T20 World Cup Super Eights match against Bangladesh on Saturday. This is the highest number of sixes India has ever hit in a single T20 World Cup match.

Previously, India had hit 11 sixes in a match against England during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, where Yuvraj Singh famously hit six sixes in one over against Stuart Broad.

In the match against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya each hit three sixes. Rishabh Pant hit two sixes, while Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav each hit one six.

The record for the most sixes in a single T20 World Cup innings is held by the Netherlands, who hit 19 sixes against Ireland in 2014.

India’s total score of 196/5 is their third-highest in T20 World Cup history. Their highest score is 218/4 against England in 2007.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had an aggressive start, scoring 39 runs together. After early dismissals, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya helped India reach 196/5. Pandya remained not out with 50 runs.

Bangladesh’s top bowlers were Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rashid Hossain. India needs to defend 197 runs to secure a spot in the semifinals. India is currently second in Group 1 of the Super Eights, while Bangladesh is at the bottom.
